Social entrepreneurship occurs when businesses develop, fund and implement innovate solutions to social, cultural and environmental issues. Whereas conventional businesses are established largely to generate profits, social entrepreneurs direct part of their profits to generating a positive return to society. Businesses involved in social entrepreneurship focus on sustainable goals with contributions to conservation and the communities in areas such as poverty alleviation, health care and community development.
Local experts Gene Hardy, Cape to Cape Tours, Toni Dearle, Pemberton Discovery Tours and Gary Muir, WOW Wilderness Tours will share with you their innovative programs developed to give back to their community. Their insights will be supplemented by contributions from two world class experts in Tourism's Giving Back - Albert Teo from Malaysia and Amy Carter-James from Mozambique.
